a5c7b9f00b Todd Brotzman is having a bad day. His rent is overdue and his landlord is an aggressive, vindictive, destructive man. Then several people are gruesomely murdered in a suite at the hotel he works at and Todd is a prime suspect. When he gets home, he discovers an intruder in his apartment. The intruder is Dirk Gently, holistic detective. Holistic detective Dirk Gently investigates cases involving the supernatural. I loved the first season of this show. It was so different, dialogue was fantastic, interesting plot, etc. The second season is formulaic, just really horrible. The actors' performances are also bad. Dirk seems more like a gay character from 80s sitcom, just too over the top and a caricature. The actress who plays Farrah is the worst actress I have ever seen. There is just nothing connecting these people in an interesting way. They are relying on music and costume and special effects and identity politics and it's just not entertaining. I had this ranked as a ten before. Now I changed it to a six. This is one of those series that is going to be divisive in several respects. <br/><br/>There are going to be those who've read the books, and those who haven't. Those who care whether it follows the books, and those who don't. And on top of that, this is not a show that is trying to appeal in one way or another to all audiences either. This is likely going to be one of those shows that you will either give a very high or a very low rating.<br/><br/>The story is fast paced, and presented like a jigsaw puzzle. Avoid if you like your stories linear, with an optional twist at the end. This one is all twist. (Maybe it'll be linear at the end.)<br/><br/>I didn't expect anything going in, and came out happy for having seen it.
